Marc Maurer (1969) studied architecture at the Eindhoven University of Technology. In 1995 he received his masters of science degree in architecture and urbanism. His graduation work was nominated for the National Archiprix 1996 (best student plans).
In 1998 he established Maurer United Architects [MUA] together with his partner architect Nicole Maurer. They have received several awards and nominations for their cooperative work and have tutored at several academies and universities in the Netherlands.
The office is known for investigating and redefining the borders of the architecture design field, resulting into architecture, design and media projects on various scales. Themes like identity, connotation and cultural authenticity play an essential role in each project. Recently MUA developed a masterplan for the city centre of Aachen (Germany). Realization takes place at this moment, the completion is expected in 2015.
